DCASE Workshop 2024 and 2025 Call for proposals

, Steering Group
workshop

DCASE Workshop is the flagship annual event related to the research area of Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events. This is an open call for proposals of DCASE Workshops to be organized in 2024 and 2025. Potential workshop organizers are invited to send a short (e.g., 2-4 pages) proposal by email to tuomas.virtanen@tuni.fi by May 15th 2023. The proposals will be evaluated and the workshop organizers chosen by the DCASE Steering Group by June 2023.

The proposal should include at least the following information:

  • Proposed dates of the workshop. Please indicate if you are proposing to organize the workshop in 2024 or 2025, or either of them. Dates in the autumn (e.g. September, October, November) will be preferred, to match with the annual schedule of DCASE Challenges.

  • Location and tentative venue, and maximum number of participants. Information about any specific benefits that the location has (e.g. the local research community and industry). When choosing the venue, please note that the number of participants has been growing (see https://dcase.community/events).

  • List of organizing committee members who are committed to organizing the proposed workshop, and their roles. Brief description of their previous experience in organizing scientific events, DCASE related activities, and other relevant biographical information. We favour organization committees whose backgrounds are diverse in terms of ethnicity, seniority, academic discipline and geographical location. We appreciate that some members of the organizing committee have been involved with DCASE and understand its principles, but we also welcome committee members outside the DCASE community.

The workshop organizers are expected to take care of all responsibilities related to the workshop, including organizing the peer review of scientific papers. DCASE workshops are financially independent events, therefore the workshop organizers should take financial responsibility of the workshop and arrange its finances.

Please note that organization or the DCASE Challenge is separate from the DCASE Workshop. Workshop organizers do not need to be involved with organizing the challenge, but will be expected to collaborate with challenge organizers, such that challenge outcomes can be presented in the workshop by organizers and task participants.
