workshop

DCASE Workshop is the flagship annual event related to the research area of Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events. This is an open call for proposals of DCASE Workshops to be organized in 2022 and 2023. Potential workshop organizers are invited to send a short (e.g., 2-4 pages) proposal by email to tuomas.virtanen@tuni.fi by May 15th 2021. The proposals will be evaluated and the workshop organizers chosen by the DCASE Steering Group by June 2021.

The proposal should include at least the following information:

  • Proposed dates of the workshop. Please indicate if you are proposing to organize the workshop in 2022 or 2023, or either of them. Dates in the autumn (e.g. October-November) will be preferred, to match with the annual schedule of DCASE Challenges.

  • Location and tentative venue, and maximum number of participants. Information about any specific benefits that the location has (e.g. the about the local research community and industry). Please also confirm that you will have the capacity to organize a physical, virtual, or hybrid workshop, depending on how Covid-19 affects international traveling. When choosing the venue, please note that the number of participants has been growing (201 participants in the 2019 workshop and 516 participants in the 2020 virtual workshop).

  • List of organizing committee members who are committed to organizing the proposed workshop, and their roles. Brief description of their previous experience in organizing scientific events, DCASE related activities, and other relevant biographical information. We will favor organization committees whose backgrounds are diverse in terms of geography and genders.

The workshop organizers are expected to take care of all responsibilities related to the workshop, including organizing the peer review of scientific papers. DCASE workshops are financially independent events, therefore the workshop organizers should take the financial responsibility of the workshop and arrange its finances.

Please note that DCASE Challenge is separate from the DCASE Workshop. Workshop organizers do not need to be involved with organizing the challenge, but need to collaborate with challenge organizers, such that challenge results can be presented in the workshop.
